My first attempt at Lino printing..
I just wanted to see what I could do with my sketches in other forms. I will hopefully get a clearer image from my next one but practise is essential for this kind of printmaking! You can keep taking away bits of the Lino but you can't exactly put them back so there isn't a lot of room for error. They are quite roughly styled anyway, I am not keen on too much perfection with lines in general, I just think it can take away from the natural movement of a drawing or print and it's not my own natural way to draw.
So like I said, I am hoping for the next Lino cut to be a bit more clear.
(the images below are based on my 'Girl with Headphones' sketch)
Too Busy to do what I actually need to do!
It has been the quickest year of all time! It is the month of May and I do not know where the time is going. I was on a roll earlier in the year for sketching etc but that trend has gone right out the window!
I am very aware of this and I am promising myself to sketch a few things (at least one) every day for as long as I can….
Lets see how this goes.. you can only keep trying!
I have to sometimes remind myself to be mindful. I think a lot of people do. This latest sketch of a girl was my reminder to be more aware of my mindset.
I created this one today and hung it on the dark wall to photograph it. The white space is important with my work as it is for the viewer to fill, to imagine what the figures mindset may be.
